Summary: Clarissa Morgenstern has been in a verbally-and occasionally physically-abusive relationship with her boyfriend, Sebastian Verlac, for over six months now. She’s convinced that he is the way he is because he wants her to be better. As long as he loves her, it’s alright. Right? But when the Lightwoods move into Clary’s school, what happens when Jace is too smart to fall for the act?
My oh-so-humble thoughts
Wow. Just-so much wow. This is so beautifully written it’s astounding. And it’s so incredibly real. The issues she brings up are so…relevant and perfectly dealt with. This story hits really close to home for me in some ways, but not in a trigger-y kind of way.
I’m trying to hard to not give anything away here, but honestly-this is such a perfect depiction of how relationships like this go. And the way the characters deal with things isn’t overly fictionalized and rainbows and butterflies…it’s painful and heartbreaking and real.
She does a perfect job of capturing the difficulties Clary-and the rest of the characters-face. Their reactions are spot on, and she’s made Sebastian into such a…subtlety malevolent being. Which, in actuality, is how a lot of abusers are.
So, yeah…go read and leave her some love cause she really does deserve it. I literally squealed this morning when I got the alert for a new chapter…sue me, I was excited. :)
