Hey darlins! So I originally found this lovely chica on tumblr. And I followed…some kinda link to find her ff.net account. And I was NOT disappointed. The first story of hers I read, believe it or not, was Theme Song (check out the spotlight here). And I laughed SO hard. I’ve since read a bunch more of her stuff (keep an eye out for more spotlights) and I just…just can’t. She’s so awesome.
So yeah, let me stop rambling so you can hear-or read-what she has to say-er, type.

Where do you find inspiration for your stories? Do you pull your real life experiences into your writing?
I usually like to write in-universe stuff. If I ever write an AU or something non-canon I still try to remain as IC as possible, so I’d say my inspiration comes mostly from the source material or any other tropes/scenarios I’d like to see play out.
Do you put real life into your stories?
Sometimes. If a character is going through something I have a frame of reference for I’ll maybe inject some of my own insight. More often than not though I try to just understand a given’s character mindset.
Do you write on a schedule?
If I’ve promised someone a prompt then yeah I schedule it out to I meet the deadline. Otherwise I make my own deadline so that I actually get it done.
Do you plan out your stories or just write whatever comes to you?
I write out notes and a general outline. If ideas come to me during the day or while I’m writing another section, I jot it down so I don’t forget.
Do you have any writing rituals or superstitions?
Is one genre easier for you to write than another? Is there anything that you just aren’t that great at writing?
I guess drama. I’d probably be bad at writing full-on smut.
What is the hardest part for you about writing fanfics?
Describing a scene. I’m a visual person so I usually have an idea of what a given scene would look like as I’m writing it but I struggle with translating that without compromising the pacing or being repetitive.
Is there a method for coming up with titles for your stories and/or chapters?
I try to keep titles short but still relating directly back to the story itself. Like a feeling or a phrase that’s repeated.
Which character do you identify with the most?
There are a lot of characters from lots of shows/movies I watch but I haven’t ever really written anything using characters I relate to, except maybe Regina from Once Upon A Time.
Which of your stories is your favorite to write and why? Which of your stories is your favorite concept wise?
I like writing one-shots and vignettes. I like keeping my writing sparse and efficient. On The Road was probably my favorite to write. Concept wise, my favorite might be Spot The Difference since I liked the idea of writing about a pairing through another character’s viewpoint.
Do you talk to your family about your writing?
I used to but now I mostly just keep it to myself
What is your favorite book/episode in your preferred series?
My favorite episodes of Once Upon A Time are Skin Deep and Good Form.
What is the best compliment you’ve ever received on your stories?
I love when people go in depth or appreciate the nuances in what I had written. Generally as long as the review is enthusiastic I’m happy.
How do you deal with the inevitable criticism?
I don’t get it so much now but I used to get it a lot when I first started. I didn’t really take those to heart but just tried to improve my writing based on my own standards.
What is your favorite/least favorite part about your preferred fandoms?
My favorite part of the OUAT fandom: the freak outs after every little development or spoiler
My least favorite part: how isolating it can sometimes feel and the ‘popular’ members being the voice
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Don’t flat-out write what the characters’ are thinking or doing. Don’t summarize events just for the sake of setting the scene. Think about how the characters actually would say something and their speech patterns. Write stuff that you yourself would want to read.
Have any recommendations?
The more well-known fic writers on Tumblr are actually really good and their writing is usually concise and simple enough to get a feel on how to improve your own stuff.
And lastly, where can all your rabid readers stalk you?
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions!
