Summary: AU: Clary has been sent from institute to institute her whole life to keep her away from Valentine. The newest institute is in New York City and she is happy to be re-united with the Lightwoods and another familiar face that she’d never thought she’d see again. **WARNING: ALL THE SPOILERS* NOW COMPLETE!

My oh-so-humble thoughts
Of all the AU’s I’ve read, this is quite possibly one of my fave TMI ones. I’ve read it like five times and I’ve been meaning to spotlight it for a few months.

The concept behind this is awesome-Clary knew about the Shadowhunter world all along, which honestly I love. I love how not clueless she is. She’s strong and confident, even in the face of a variety of issues. And Jace-ah I love Jace and her Jace is pretty adorable.

It’s short ish-16 chapters total including the epilogue-so it won’t take long. I can usually bang it out in like a half a day. So it’s worth the small time investment. :) So go, read and enjoy and then leave her some reviews and love. Thanks darlins!

Summary: “I am glad to announce the betrothal between my daughter and Prince Jonathon Herondale,” King Valentine announced. Clary almost screamed. Jace. Jace the most obnoxious man she had ever met. Jace the pompous idiot. Jace the man she beat up. Jace the arrogant. Jace…her husband.

My oh-so-humble thoughts
I cannot even begin to tell you how very glad I am that I found this fic and gave it a chance (I don’t usually read K rateds.). I am very nearly at the end of my rope with the lack of good TMI fics and this one has restored my faith. :)

It’s cute. But with an edge. This Clary is ballsy and this Jace is cocky enough to be an annoying little shit, but still maintain an innocent boyish quality that has me ‘awwwww’ing’ all over the place. Seriously, it takes talent to do that.

It’s only like 10 chapters in, but there’s a good substantial plot and nice twists and turns all throughout. I can’t wait for more, though apparently the author has exams. Dammit. So it may be a few weeks til she gets around to it. But leaving her love certainly wouldn’t hurt I’d imagine, so go read and leave her comments. :) Enjoy lovelies!

Summary: [ALL HUMAN] A Clace fanfic involving irritating older brothers, difficult roommates, mangoes and a duck or two… When Jonathan’s best friend, Jace, moves into their flat, Clary is horrified. As if putting up with one annoying boy wasn’t enough, now she has to handle two. Not to mention the fact that she can’t stand Jace any further than she can throw him. Which is not far. At all.

My oh-so-humble thoughts
Okay so fair warning-I’m not even finished with this fic yet. Or what’s written at least. So, for all I know, after chapter 20ish, she may just lose all talent and it’s going to suck.

However-I doubt it. So far, this has been such an awesome fun fic to read. I’ve been sick today and-as weird as this sounds-it made me laugh so hard that I threw up, which actually made me feel better. *shrug* Yeah. So I’m thinking it’s probably going to continue that way.

She written such real characters and I love the way they interact. Their issues are real and I can totally TOTALLY see myself doing all the crazy clumsy things Clary does. Seriously, it’s almost like she’s spying on my life. Anyways, it’s not done yet but there’s a good 27 chapters and she seems to have a pretty consistent posting schedule. So I’m totally excited for more, as you will be too when you go read what’s there.

Leave her love and encouragement cause I seriously want more :) Thanks lovelies!!

Summary: What would the world be like if Valentine never interfered in Jace Herondale’s life. Instead, after the Uprising, he ran away with his only daughter Clarissa Morgenstern. Leaving a distressed Jocelyn to believe both are dead. AU/OOC Dark!Clary / Clace NOW COMPLETE!

My oh-so-humble thoughts
Okay so. This sorry-gah! So good. I read it awhile ago and then she finished it without me knowing (??? Come on!!!) So I just recently reread it. And yeah-still awesome. :)

This whole reimagined TMI story is pretty original in my opinion. And it’s very true to character, or at least the characters that I’m familiar with. Remember, I haven’t finished the source books. (Oops) But yeah, this is a completely new and extremely unique perspective.

I especially love Clary’s…story, I guess you could say. I can totally feel where she’s coming from. And the twist, holy crap! I love that she included Max and she even have Jace a sibling. Both of the littles (who aren’t actually that little…13 I think) are just awesome.

So it worth a read and she definitive needs some reviews, ie love cause she wrote a freaking awesome food that totally deserves some attention. :) so happy reading lovelies!!

Author Spotlight: Livybug

Hey lovelies! So I have a new author for you to check out. Yippee!!!

Anyways, this chick has written a few (read:4) Mortal Instruments fics. I actually found her by accident. I had a TMI fic pulled up on my phone and my finger managed to press…something-which somehow navigated me to her. Seriously, I struggled for a few minutes randomly pressing things even though my fingers were nowhere near any links. Apparently my phone knows what I like.

So yeah, I’m gonna leave you to see what she’s got to say cause she’s pretty frickin’ sweet!

Let’s start with an introduction. I’m Kelly, or as more people know me, Kelpie.
So, tell me a little about yourself.
I am a mother of 3. I have a slight (huge) addiction to the written word whether it be reading or writing, it doesn’t seem to matter to me. However, my passion before that was music. I love to sing as well.

What do you do with yourself when you’re not writing?
When I’m not writing, first and foremost I am Mom. I also work part time for the State I live in with individuals that have mental disabilities. After those two priorities comes reading and writing…and sleeping. I love to sleep!

What are some things you never leave home without?
Keys, phone, Kindle.

What are some of your favorite books?
That is a dangerous question. I have a few…

The Lux series, Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Arcana Chronicles, Kresley Cole.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, Laini Taylor
Shadow Hunter Chronicles, Cassandra Clare

There are so many more but these are the top…in no specific order.

Favorite TV shows and movies?
Vikings on the History Channel is my addiction right now, but I also watch, The Originals, Grey’s Anatomoy, and Empire. Movies are tough, too. Like books there are so many good ones, but Dirty Dancing is my all-time favorite.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and had 3 famous people with you, who would you choose and why?
Laini Taylor, because they way she spins words amazes me.

MacGyver, because he would know what to do with a hair tie, bobby pin and a leaf.

Chuck Norris, because…really he can do everything.

What is 1 place you’d love to visit?
I have two; Venice and New Orleans.

Do you have any pet peeves?
Yup, when people cut their toe nails anywhere BUT the bathroom. That’s just gross.

What are some of your favorite foods? How ‘bout comfort foods?
All time favorite is my Grandpa’s meatballs, yum. But I also love tacos. Comfort food is my Mom’s tator-tot hotdish.

What’s your favorite scent-one that says “home” to you?
Vanilla and lilac.

What kind of music do you like? Any you absolutely can’t stand?
I can really enjoy all kinds of music. I don’t discriminate when it comes to music, although I’m not a HUGE fan of classical or heavy metal-I’m going to scream in the mic- music.

Tell me one random thing about yourself.
I used to sing in a band.

Just for some insight into you pick one. Feel free to tell why or not.
Chocolate or vanilla?  Chocolate, because plain vanilla is boring.
Silver or gold? Silver
Apple or PC? PC, Apple is overrated.
White wine or red wine? Red, I like sweet wine.
Liquor or beer? Liquor, Beer is nasty! Ew!
Coffee or tea?  Coffee…with LOTS and LOTS of creamer…French vanilla from Wal-mart.
Sleep in or get up early? Sleep in.

Okay, now for the good stuff.
What are your preferred fandoms for writing/reading?
I’ve only written Fanfics using characters from the Mortal Instruments, but I could see myself using the Lux series as well. Characters have to talk, if they don’t, there’s no story to tell.

What kind of environment do you write in?
In my living room with screaming kids, crazy cats and my Chihuahua.

Ever write in your PJs?
99% of the time

How bout naked?
Nope, I live in the state of Snow and mosquitos, clothes are good.

Where do you find inspiration for your stories? Do you pull your real life experiences into your writing?
Inspiration is all over the place, if you’re paying attention. It could be something as small as a smile from my kids or a grand gesture from my husband or just staring out my window. And yes, I do pull real life experiences into my stories. It ties me to them, makes them part of me and if I’m invested, my readers will be, too.

Do you write on a schedule?

Do you plan out your stories or just write whatever comes to you?
I am horrible at plotting. I just can’t do it. I have a general idea, but I always know the ending so as long as everything leads to that, I’m good with it.

Do you have any writing rituals or superstitions?
Writing on Sundays makes the hair on my legs grow faster…no JK, I don’t. LOL

Is one genre easier for you to write than another? Is there anything that you just aren’t that great at writing?
I tend to be good at fluff and HEA’s. I’d have a hard time with Sci-Fi I think. Love to read them and watch shows in that genre, but I just don’t think I could come up with some of that crazy stuff.

What is the hardest part for you about writing fanfics?
Staying true to the character that the author has created while making them your own.  In Fanfics your using another person’s creation. The reader has to be able to see that character in what they are reading as well as sense the difference. It’s tough.

Is there a method for coming up with titles for your stories and/or chapters?
Not really, whatever conveys the story the best. Don’t cry was called that because Jace told Clary, “Don’t cry,” repeatedly throughout the story. Last Words was named that because the whole story was based on the last words of a dying woman. My other two stories were named after songs.

Which character do you identify with the most?
From my fics, probably Izzy. She is all tough on the outside, but mushy on the inside. That’s me.

Which of your stories is your favorite to write and why? Which of your stories is your favorite concept wise?
Don’t Cry was my favorite concept wise. Using memories to tell the backstory for my characters was fun. My favorite to write was probably Wide Awake. I got to delve into 9/11 and really put myself into a situation that was not only emotional for the US, but also for the world. It was a challenge, as was Don’t Cry being that Jace was a tortured soldier thought to have died, but 9/11 really touched the whole world in a way and I wanted to write about it. For those who weren’t here to live it and for those that were to remember it.

Do you talk to your family about your writing?
LOL! Nope.

What is your favorite book/episode in your preferred series?
The Lux series, was OPAL. The Mortal Instruments was the Clockwork books. There are so many, it’s hard to remember them all off the top of my head.

What is the best compliment you’ve ever received on your stories?
It was for Wide Awake when multiple readers told me that I’d captured the feelings they felt when 9/11 happened perfectly. It was a good feeling to know I’d accomplished what I set out to do when I wrote the story.

How do you deal with the inevitable criticism?
Grain of salt. Harsh words do hurt, but not everyone will like my stories and they don’t have to. Don’t like them? Don’t read them!

What is your favorite/least favorite part about your preferred fandoms?
Remembering names to lesser characters when I need to fill a spot! LOL! There are SO many characters in the Mortal Instruments series, It’s hard to keep track of them all.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
If you want to do it, sit down and do it. Don’t just think about it. Books don’t write themselves and they take time and devotion. They are like a child that you have to nurture and love and then send it out in the world and see if others will love it, too. It’s not easy. It’s very frustrating and when that first bad review comes in, it will rip your heart out. But for every one of those, there are 10 good ones that make you smile and make you want to write more.

Have any recommendations?
If you’re into reading fics…DDPJCLAF if an AMAZING writer. She is also on Fanfiction.

And lastly, where can all your rabid readers stalk you?

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions!

So yeah. You should really go check her out cause she’s pretty damn awesome! Leave her some love and let her know how much you adore her too cause,  ya know, we all love to hear that. Alright, thanks lovelies!!!

My oh-so-humble thoughts
Okay so. I found this lovely chick a while back and I’m pretty sure I was about to start reading a fic of hers when my lovely kidlets hid my other phone. But I just found her again and duuuuuuude!!

I love this fic. It’s such an abrupt start, but completely compelling. I’m not even done with what’s published yet (24 ish chapters as of when I’m writing this).

It’s a war story, but not modern war-like knights and kingdoms and all that loveliness kinda war. And-see I’m trying not to give to much away-the story behind everything is just awesome. The way she’s woven flashbacks into the story, revealing little bits and peices is masterful. She doesn’t go too slow and she doesn’t rush-it’s juuuuuuuuust right. *smirk*

There are a few grammatical and word choice oddities (NOT errors!!!), but she’s French. My first thought was that she wasn’t American and that was totally right. *shrug* I just know some of your are slightly fanatical about grammar so I wanted to warn you. :P

It’s an awesome story that really deserves your attention and I think you should go read. Now. :) Thanks lovelies!

Story Spotlight: Chasing the Sun

Summary: AU/AH: After a brutal tour in Afghanistan turns his life upside down, Jace is forced to battle a new war. This time, one of his own. Fortunately, he’s not alone. Can new next-door neighbor Clary help heal a wounded soldier’s heart? Vulgar language and lots of lemonade.

My oh-so-humble thoughts
I’m so excited!!! I’ve been wanting to spotlight this since she began it-I loved her fic Ascension sooooo much and this one is no different. I’ve been trying to make sure to wait for fics to be at least 10 chapters before I spotlight them and this one is at 15 and it’s a go!!!

Okay, so my insane ramblings aside, I usually don’t make a point of reading war fics. They tend to bum me out. And this one…did, but not in the same way most do. This is the *after effects* of the war…which is a key thing nowadays that nobody wants to talk about.

She’s written this in an awesomely real way. I actually kinda hated the story at first-you’ll see why when you get into it-but the progression and evolution of the characters is handled in such an organic way—it’s amazing. Truly. All their flaws and mistakes somehow make them more likable, at least to me.

The embarrassment, shame, horror, fear, panic, happiness…every emotion she’s managed to capture in such a way that I *feel* them. I mean, that’s what stories are supposed to do-evoke emotion-but this is somehow a little more extreme than most. So it’s definitely worth the read-I usually click and read asap whenever I get an update email-and I sincerely hope you’ll head on over right now to read and leave her love. :)
